Graphics â€‹â€‹: Packaging Design

2010

This  part of my portfolio for graphic design which was completed during my time at Pendleton College where I studied a BTEC Advanced National Diploma in graphic design. The images above where part of a packaging design module. They where done in a style I like and have worked in for the following years which is a international / typographical style. The precise nature of this style appeals to my keen interest of engineering.

Graphics â€‹â€‹: Art Exhibition Posters

2010

These posters where completed for a competition which I undertook in my time at college. To create the image I poured ink into a vase of water and took multiple images with a DSLR to get the precise detail. The images where then taken into photoshop to tweak the contrast and make the ink pop out from the background and then I added a couple of filters to give the appearance of a colour gradient which can be seen in the first and third image. The fourth image was the original with no tweaks made apart from to the contrast.

Graphics â€‹â€‹: Penguin Classics - Treasure Island Covers

2010

The Penguin Classics book covers where one of my most enjoyed. The art work first had to be created by hand and then scanned into the computer and tweaked in photoshop. The first image was created with charcoal on white paper which I then screwed up and then scanned into photoshop, a filter was then applied to the image to give it a misty look which I think adds to the affect of the cover. The second image is done in the 60's style of penguin books which is why it is fairly posterised and green. The third is one that had to be created in our own style, the artwork was created by hand and then I did some mixed media work to create the background and the coloured inserts to go into the drawing. the grey texture was created by white chalk on black tissue paper which was then scrumped and then scanned into photoshop where all of the work was combined onto the penguin classics layout.
